The refill was welcome as he slugged some more booze back, just feeling his emotions take over for a good few moments and knew he had to calm down. Taking a few deep breaths, he focused himself and knew he was getting drunk. Would the Norwegian punk get drunk with him?
"I mean cunt. A woman's cunt. You know this?"
He pointed in between his legs then tried to make a pussy shape by putting his hands together making a round shape and then pushing his tongue inside. Quite lewd but he hoped the punk understood the strange hand gestures. Giggling slightly, Mick was now on the way to being silly and trashed.
"We have lot of words." Norwegian, in fact most of the Scandinavian languages, have a plethora of curse words.
"Fitte is derogatory or dirty version. Not nice for girlfriends because means whore." Vars is laughing though at the demonstration from the Brit. "kjønnsorgan maybe better for not insulting or rødglødende kvinne."
"Right, so not fitte then? Ziggy isn't a whore and I'd never call anyone that, not even Jack and he's---well he's a man of the night sort of thing."
Mick trying to be polite in Jack's career choice because he liked Ziggy's brother and thought a lot of the Stardusts in general. Vars was laughing now and it caused the guitarist to giggle a little because they were talking about cunts and pussys.
"I can hardly pronounce them, mate. Kjonns---organ thingie. Such a mouthful."
He shook his head and sipped some more of his drink. Mick wondered what cock was in Norwegian now. All the filthy words he wanted to ask the bassist because at heart Mick was still a little boy.
"Oh, I get you there. Calling a bloke a pussy to his face is likely to earn you a nice big punch to the jaw."
Mick had used the word a few times himself to face off to thugs and idiots alike. He'd gotten into quite a few fist fights and didn't like to back down because he liked winning every fight he ever got into. Nodding, he could understand what Vars was meaning.
"I'd never insult Ziggy like that during sex---it's more I call him pet names and things he likes. Love and things like that."
The guitarist was smitten and very deeply in love, as he had been for many years now. Now, it felt good to be able to use pet names and loving words to Ziggy because they were a couple.
"How many blokes have you decked in then, mate? Just curious because you seem a strong type of bloke yourself."
Mick drank some more booze and liked talking about similar interests. This being how many men they'd beaten up because these things he couldn't discuss with Ziggy or Gilly. Even Weird probably hadn't gotten into as many fights as this Norwegian had.
"They don't? What do you call your girls back home?"
He wondered if they just called their lovers by their names.
"No count, a lot." Vars used to fight more than he does now. He started in the punk scene as a teen and was absorbed in it for a long time before he mellowed out. "Know you hit people. See how you look at men looking at Stardust."
Vars had noticed but understood. In this business, especially with a partner who is a singer, a man needed to be a little jealous just to keep people back.
"Just name." He didn't have more to say because that was just how the language was. "Sometimes use Danish name or Swedish."
After all, he did obsessively call Viktor pretty boy which was essentially a pet name.
"Yeah, I slug any bastard who insults Ziggy or any of the lads. We're a family now the Spiders and we defend each other. No one touches my girl."
Mick was very defensive over Ziggy especially since he'd wanted the singer for over three years and had to suffer in silence almost. Yet now he was finally with his love and could live out his life for real. Fuck the wankers who wanted to start shit with any of them. Interviewers...thugs. All of those.
"Just a name, eh? Nothing wrong with that. I often call Ziggy jut "Zig" sometimes. It's sort of a pet name."
Ronno wasn't sure what Vars called Viktor because all he saw of them was them fighting and roughing each other up. A punk love scene?
"Punks same. Ziggy like punk girl, hit people for you too?" It had to be asked. He'd never seen Ziggy hit anyone but he had a mouth on him that could burn down a house. Vars could only imagine the attitude that came with that.
"Use shorter names for people." Vars nodded to the idea since his own name was a shorted version of his full name. "We use nickname as pet name."
"Ziggy has a mouth on him as well as a mean kick. Then there's the shoe throwing. He's not afraid to hit some thug if they threaten me or the lads either."
Mick admired Ziggy's bravery and knew he could cut a bitch with his tongue as well as smash some idiot in the face. His anger was rare but it was there. Mick knew that he couldn't afford to get angry too much because of his Anthean heritage. That part had to be kept a secret.
"Is that why you're called Vars? I've heard blockhead call you Spiky and Hedgehog. Do you like those names? I can't help wonder if you two like each other since all I see is you punching and beating each other up."
"Remind me of Aarne. Kick people across room." He had seen the Fin kick people and the distance they could be away for him to make contact was always startling for someone as short as Vars. His legs were so long, like Ziggy's.
"Yes. Full name Oddvar, mean vigilante sword in my language." Vars snorted a laugh at the question from the guitarist. "Punk way to do things don't like. Show friends when not serious. Why I call pretty boy all time because piss Viktor off."
He was trying to explain a very different way of existing than Mick was probably used to though he raises his brow and shifts on the bar stool with that last comment. He didn't know how to answer so downed his drink and asked the tender for another.
"Friends." He nodded and then gave a very non-committal and uncertain gesture with his shoulders. Viktor was hard to read sometimes, even for a punk. "Don't know what singer doing."
Vars liked Viktor, was starting to like him a hell of a lot but the punk was all over the place sometimes.
"Aarne has long legs too for a bloke. I bet he can defend you guys with his legs too."
Mick didn't want to get on the crazy Fin's bad side because he had Joe close to him and they looked wild as a bag of cats but looked strong too. Together, they could raise some hell with their mouths and legs. Joe had strong arms so maybe he had a good right hook too.
"Oddvar? Ah ok. I like that your name means sword. That's a good strong name, mate. Mine is short for Michael but no one ever uses that except my mum when she gets angry with me."
He hated his full name and much preferred Mick or Ronno, since everyone called him that. As for "pretty boy"---that got a rather confused stare from the guitarist because he wasn't sure himself about the Brit punk. He seemed angry a lot and often bullish. Maybe that was his way. Even Vars didn't know what was up.
"Friends is good. He seems---well, a strong-headed sort of bloke."
He was trying to be nice since he didn't know how "friendly" they were with each other.
"If have to we all fight." Vars didn't see anyone as a defender or the defended. They were a unified front. He didn't even want to think about the chaos of Joe and Aarne, they were a tornado but he could see how it was good to have someone like you around. That felt good.
"Moms and wives use angry full name." He knew all too well about both of those. He didn't often think of Trine anymore, or tried not to very much. He loathed her for how she left and still loved her. It was a mess in his insides where she was concerned.
"Don't know when lose or shut mouth." But the impish half smile from the punk suggests that Vars doesn't see these as bad traits. "Kronidiot think I give up because he says should."
They clashed because they wanted to be close and both wanted the upper hand. It drove Vars to distraction trying to deal with Viktor and his own feelings over the other punk. His divorce was haunting him more lately because of the other punk too. The past left him having a hard time thinking about anything serious or long term or even considering it but he felt it sometimes, especially when they were up to no good together rather than fighting.
The Brit nodded and then finished his drink. He wanted another because he wanted to get smashed. Why not? It would help his mood from feeling like shit a few moments ago before talking to Vars. The whole nightmare thing bothered him and Mick just wanted to get to know the punk bloke and let his hair down.
"Want a smoke?"
He pulled out his pack of cigarettes and wondered if the punk smoked. Most did, didn't they? Mick knew Rik didn't because Aarne had already told him about some sort of health condition. That was fine but the Brit was always handing out his smokes to his friends who wanted one.
"Blockhead. That's what I call Viktor. He seems angry a lot of the time and I'm frightened he'll get arrested or really hurt someone one day. I swear I could smell smoke coming from his hotel room the other week. Burning his carpet probably."
"Sometimes. Prefer drink." Vars would dabble in other things but he was more of a drinker than a smoker or drugs. Though as Mick pulls out the pack Vars pulls out a Zippo to offer him a light. He might not always smoke but a lighter had a lot of uses.
"Don't mention before band. Think was bad time before band." That was true for a lot of them. Things were really bad before the bands they joined. "I teach Brit be safe with fires and accelerant. Make different kind of fires."
Vars might be making Viktor more of a firebug but at least he was learning more safety and had someone who would be around if something went wrong. As soon as the punk thought that though he felt crushing pressure inside. It was almost too much.
"I get you there, mate. Drink is sometimes better than a smoke but it helps calm me down. Especially after having shit nightmares lately."
Then the guitarist's eyes were lingering on the fancy looking lighter. He usually used matches but the lighter was welcomed as he lit his cigarette and took a long drag, exhaling a thin stream of smoke above him. He nodded and wouldn't say blockhead in front of the punk or his band mates. He wasn't that stupid. Viktor might be stupid but he was also bigger and larger than Mick.
"I won't. He can't be all that bad if he's band leader and a singer. The crowd must like him too. Oh yeah? Fire? You've got to be careful mucking around with that. Easy to get burnt and stuff."
Filling up his glass once more, Mick took a deep gulp and sighed.
"Nightmares bad but reason for them. Should listen." Vars had his own sometimes but they weren't exactly nightmarish, more reliving things he didn't want to think about.
Vars didn't mind the name calling because in the punk scene it was more acceptable and wasn't always wholly negative.
"Viktor strong but stubborn bad way when don't need to." Vars had noticed that Viktor was exaggerated in his need to be the top all the time and it didn't take much to imagine why. "Know fire and fuel from planes. Dangerous refuel planes and not watch careful."
Nodding gently, Mick knew the Norwegian was right. Nightmares were there for a reason since it was your brain telling you something while you were asleep. Had he been shoving his worries under the carpet all these years? Of course he had. Denial, regret...all of that. All because he hadn't acted when he felt the overpowering need to.
"Yeah. This time I will listen because I know it'll be easier this time."
He didn't want to mention Ziggy and the fact that he had powers involving empathy and telepathy since that was off the cards. The alien thing had to be kept a secret. Mick wanted to share dreams with his lover in an intimate way.
"Viktor seems a tough bloke. A rough diamond. He's a Northerner like me, Weird and Gilly. Billy's also a good lad too. A bit of a tart like his brother but a good guitar player and brother for tartmouth."
As for the whole fire and fuel thing? That got Mick's eyes going wide a little because shit---that was dangerous stuff. These guys were hardcore. Swallowing more booze, the blond wondered what the punks would get up to next.
"Fire and fuel? Are you blokes hoping to light a huge bonfire one day?"
"Viktor is.." Vars looked down at his drink before downing it. Viktor caused him a lot of internal turmoil. "eh... think he good man under being bastard all day."
The other punk made Vars feel out of his damned mind but he wasn't about to mention it. He poured another drink for himself. while listening to Mick.
"Not much fire like Viktor but more experience." Vars rubbed his forehead a little with one hand while picking up his drink. The Norwegian didn't even want to think about the fact he worried about the other punk, let alone tell someone else he did. "Maybe burn something down sometime."
"I get you, mate. He seems a blockhead to most but I'm guessing he's a good man underneath all that punk behaviour and showing off."
Mick nodded and knew that this was sometimes how certain blokes behaved to gain respect or whatever from their piers. The whole toxic masculinity thing. The guitarist knew all about that since he'd grown up around social norms where men were supposed to act tough and be men. Fuck all that. At least Ziggy was trying to turn the world on it's head for the better.
"Burn something down? Oh yeah? Like what?"
The blond had no idea what the two punks were planning but it would surely end in a shit show of some sort. What would Tom think? He probably got migraines over both blokes causing a riot with fighting and fire. Mick did think it was fun though even though he wouldn't play with fire himself.
"The only fire I seem to produce is when I blow stuff up. Amps, toasters, ovens. That sort of thing. Not intentionally though. Are you any good with computers?"
"Like bandmates but feel good have someone like me around."
Vars is really dancing around the subject of Viktor and how much he likes the other punk. Part of it is his own hang-ups and the rest is he doesn't have any idea about what Viktor might be thinking about any of it. Vars grew up in a very toxic environment as far as social norms and while it still came out with strangers, around those he knew the softer and more relaxed side of who he was came out.
"Viktor probably police station." He knew that the punk had it in for the police. Surely, that would be a target.
"Good but need someone turn to Norwegian." Vars sighed and shrugged. "Don't read English."
"You reckon he'll try to target a police station during the tour we're on? If he does, Tom might flip the punk on his ass for getting into deep shit with that. But if you like him then---good for you, mate."
Mick drank some more drink and was worried that Viktor and Vars would cause some real criminal damage and Tom would end up bailing them out of jail. That would be an utter shit show for real. But then with three bands touring together this shit was bound to happen.
"Oh yeah. Your spoken English is good, mate. But, I get you with computers. I read and speak English and can hardly work the bloody things."
This was more down to Mick being utterly useless with technology.
Vars starts laughing and downs his drink before pouring another for himself. "Carry bad vodka for fires on bike. Burn cop car in New York that chase us."
That last comment though causes instant, visible discomfort in the punk as he runs his finger through the booze in the glass. Then he lets out a deep breath and shoots the whole rocks glass of vodka. It burns like hell to drink that much so fast. He's already refilling it again.
"Wish Viktor not so blind. Don't see what right in front of face."
That was all he could think to say about the subject because all of it made him feel twisted up inside.
"I can work but not English. Try to learn read English, maybe try again."
"Carry bad vodka? Oh---as in stuff to use for fire bombs? Bloody hell, mate! That sounds lethal and dangerous. I'm glad you lads know what you're doing. I sure as hell wouldn't piss about with fire like that."
Mick just stared and went wide-eyed a little before drinking some liquor back with a hard gulp. These guys really were hardcore. The punk scene was definitely different to the glam scene that was for sure. Then, he noticed a change in Vars' demeanor. Was he upset?
"Are you alright, mate? Blockhead giving you trouble? I won't say anymore if it's private, like. I can respect a man's love life."
He patted Vars on the arm softly before going back to his glass. For a bloke who spoke English as a second language he was doing really well. Mick couldn't read or speak a second language at all. Although, he did want to learn Anthean one day but that---that was a secret for now.
"You speak good English. It's punctuated and I can understand you."
