Personality: Vars is laid back but crass and very rough around the edges. Socially rebellious he does have a sense of right and wrong though it is skewed from what general society believes to be right. He respects family but is slow to trust in anything long term or permanent. Vars teases the people closest to him as a show of his friendship. Humor is something he rarely shows to those outside of people considered friends or family. Easily engaged in building and hands on tasks. He likes to stay busy.
Background: Vars grew up in a very nationalistic home. During WWII some of his family was employed by Germany which eventually invaded and occupied Norway. The rift in his family never healed because of his family history of serving in the Norwegian Military, particularly the Royal Airforce. Vars was taught that he might have to fight to protect Norway though he was never pushed toward the military. He was taught to fight, use knives, and guns at an early age but by his father and grandfather. He was often tested in fist fights against grown men as a pre-teen. Vars started out in high school building custom motorcycles. Mechanically inclined, he loves to work on building things. Vars' father served in the Royal Airforce working with explosives and aircraft. His parents both died when he was 16 and left him to fend for himself. It's also around this time that he picked up Norse religious practices and started drifting in the Oslo punk scene.
The death of his parents forced Vars to become an adult quickly which led him and his long time girlfriend, Trine (Kateryne Berg), to take over living in his parents' house and Vars dropped out of schooling to support them both. However, at 19 he broke his leg severely in an accident. While he couldn't get around Vars picked up the bass guitar. His second love was music. Trine spent a lot of time with him and they got married when he started rehab and could stand again. Vars turned his attention from motorcycles to music and ended up in a rowdy punk band. Around this time, Trine became a model and Vars tried his hand at it. He ended up in a couple of magazines of a sexual nature though he never did pornographic modeling. He became a punk icon in Norway while Trine finished her medical schooling. However, things started going south after his first anniversary. His band's antics and trouble with the law, as well as his refusal to stay home and not tour, broke his marriage. After two years he was divorced and heartbroken. Instead of letting it hold him back he started searching for another band while studying to be a pilot and working as a mechanic on the side.
At 22 he auditioned with the Hammers. Though he wasn't as glam as his bandmates his loud and rebellious nature fit in with the others just fine.
